The Vanguard Award Selects December Winner

Tampa, FL — January 24, 2011—The Vanguard Award is proud to announce December’s award recipient. Brittany Butler, a senior from Plant City High School, is a dedicated student athlete who not only excels on the field and in the classroom but holds community involvement as a high priority as well. Vanguard Attorneys will present $1,000 to the Plant City High School athletic program during the school’s morning show on Thursday, January 26 at 8 a.m.

Butler is a true example of a leader. Her college counselor, Sherrie Mueller, describes her as an outstanding and high achieving young woman. Butler is currently captain of the varsity swim team and has been recognized as an Athletic Scholar since 2009. She is also involved in the community with organizations including the Civinettes club and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD). Butler has maintained an excellent GPA throughout high school and plans to Florida Atlantic University.

Each month, the Vanguard Award selection committee will recognize a new Hillsborough County high school athlete for their contributions on the field, in the classroom and in the community. The winning student’s school’s athletic program will receive $1,000. These programs are crucial to the community’s growth and the success of Hillsborough County students.
