Spring Practice: Tampa Catholic

Christian Freeman, Tampa Catholic, OT, 2013

Tampa, FL – Whoa Daddy! Cautiously optimistic about these boys.  I don’t want to expect too much and the Crusaders not make it to Orlando in December.  But, they can be scary good!  The offensive line is huge.  “Armwood” huge!  The two tackles are between 280-300, Christian Freeman (2013) and Cory Martinez (2014)…freaking monsters.  No one on the offensive line is smaller than 6-2 and I believe the center may be the lightest in the butt at around 230lbs.  Very impressive upfront.  At some point, Chivarski Corbett, the QB is going to have to look himself in the mirror and see that he will be a stud QB.  You have to see him up close to really know how tall/long he really his.  When he fills out and spends more time in the weight room, there will be no limit to how good he can be.  I am really excited to follow this kid.  The group of WRs are talented and have a good mix of different styles. Two 6-5 kids and a few shifty small guys.  I liked the way the running backs hit the whole during inside run.  Never did one defender bring them down.  I saw 3 different ball carriers and there was no drop off during substitutions.  The defense looked very physical.  There is a  2014 LB, last name Harrell and SS/OLB, Zach(sp) Dier who I really enjoyed watching practice.  3 defensive starters did not go today and you would not have been able to tell. At this point, TC has just about everything.  I did not see a position that they really had to fill.  This could be the year the Crusaders head back to Orlando.
