BAY AREA BITES HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY

Spring Practice: Middleton

Tampa, FL – First glaring observation was the distiction of offence and defense with the bright yellow jerseys. One would think that the yellow would be terribly ugly, but they were quite the opposite. Now to football…

Middleton as usual very athletic, impressive skill players, starting with quarterback Aaron Midthus. Midthus is legitimately fast; nice size kid that throws a decent ball.  I arrive at the start of practice, where prepractice was very organized and players knew exactly where to be and what time to be there.

Rising sophomore safety, Kyle Gibson, will end up being one of the area’s top prospects in 2014. He has very long arms, standing at 6’1″ and good feet.

Also impressive were the linebackers for the Tigers. Javele Smith and Brandon Tillman have a chance to be one of the best linebacker duos in the county. Both are very aggressive, strong, and instinctful.

Richard Benjamin was absent from practice today due to family obligations, but CB Armani Sampson could be the leader in the defensive secondary. He has very good feet and swivel in his hips… Good ball player.

Kelu Fontaine is an under the radar star — great feet and great frame.

In conclusion, I like new head coach Alonzo Ashwood’s start with the Tigers. Middleton will sneak up on some teams. Great spring game match up versus Hillsborough.
