Spring Practice: King

King TE, Marcus Brown runs up the seam vs the defense during practice

Tampa, FL – Big surprises at King High. I observed two kids who I was very impressed with. TE/LB, Marcus Brown and Zerric Coleman will make up a deadly double tightend offense, which will allow King to create match up problems. Brown measures at around 6’2″ while Coleman stands at 6’6″. Both have the potential to be division I prospects, with great size and ability. Greg Windham looked like Greg Windham –rocket arm, great ball placement, smooth release, and showed leadership throughout practice. Chris Murray and Taylor Gonzalez will be one of the areas best WR combos this season. They impressed me during the March Ignite Combine and did much of the same today. Both double as defensive backs and will be special teams studs. The Lions had plenty of participation with around 50 kids today. Surprisingly, they were deeper at both offensive and defensive line than I expected — plenty of big butts to go around. I liked what the Lions’ staff has built in the last few seasons. King seemed very confident and competitive. There was plenty of coaching, never did a play go by where a kid was not commended or corrected.
