Nature Coast Signs Bailey and Ruiz

Maxx Ruiz

Rob Kazmier, Nature Coast

Brooksville, FL – Nature Coast Football is proud to announce that two more student athletes will be continuing their careers at the next level!

Isaac Bailey has signed with ASA College in Brooklyn, NY. ASA is a two-year college. The Avengers are a member of the NJCAA’s Northeast Football Conference and play a very tough national schedule. The staff at ASA loved Isaac’s speed and athleticism. He was being recruited by colleges as both a RB and CB. ASA likes him as a CB which is his preferred position. In their short history ASA has done a tremendous job of getting players on track and into D1 schools. In February they had 10 players sign on with D1 schools such as Ole Miss, Southern Miss, East Carolina, Temple and Bowling Green. In their first year in 2009 they had 8 players signed by other college programs. Isaac and his family are very excited and he looks forward to getting to work at ASA in June. Bailey rushed for 1,331 yards and 11 touchdowns on 179 carries this past season — an average of 7.4 yards a touch. He finished the season as the leading rusher on the North Suncoast. At defensive back, Bailey had 19 tackles, an interception, a fumble recovery and two caused fumbles.  Bailey was selected the Florida Athletic Coaches Association District 8 MVP, and he was a St. Petersburg Times’ All-North Suncoast first team pick at running back after his senior season.

Maxx Ruiz will be staying in the Sunshine State where he has signed with Ave Maria University! Ave Maria is located just a few hours south of Brooksville in Naples. The program is brand new and will be playing it’s first game in 2011. They will be competing at the NAIA level. The Gyrenes are looking for Maxx to come in and take on an H-back role. Maxx and his family visited the school a couple of times and loved the atmosphere and the school itself. Maxx will be majoring in biology and then he plans to continue on to pre-med. Maxx maintained above a 3.6 GPA at Nature Coast while taking on several honors and dual enrollment courses. This past season the 6’1 200 lb TE hauled in 11 passes for 161 yards and 2 TDs in a run oriented offense. He is also a strong blocker which caught many schools attention. His grades certainly helped as well.

Several other Nature Coast football players are still weighing their options and are expected to make decisions soon including Brenton Nuby, Jay Feret and George Jackson.
