Some underclassmen QB’s with the upper-hand

It’s been a tough start to the season for some of the well-known QB’s that were destined to do big things in 2015, but there’s plenty of light at the end of the tunnel in other areas throughout the coverage area. Here’s a quick look at some of the young guns that are off to fast starts and developing into leaders at the spot in terms of production.

Class of 2017

Daniel Boon, Jesuit
The 6-foot, 180-pound signal-caller has done his job for Jesuit completing 75-percent of his passes (46-of-61) for 504 yards good for an average of 168 yards per game through the first three weeks. Boon has nine touchdowns and just two interceptions for the Tigers and Jesuit is 3-0. Boon also has rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown.

AJ Colagiovanni, Manatee
The ‘Canes are 1-2, but Colagiovanni has helped as much as he can completing 55-of-92 (60%) for 657 yards averaging 219 yards per game through the air. A 3:2 touchdown to interception ratio is something this 5-foot-11, 185-pounder will inevitably look to improve, but the ‘Canes are in a good spot since AJ can do things with his legs as well–rushing for 89 yards and two touchdowns through the first three weeks of the season.

Alec Cromie, Weeki Wachee
Cromie possesses a nice frame at 6-foot-4, 205 pounds and even though he’s slightly under a 50% completion rate this season, he’s produced six touchdowns to just one interception and is averaging just one yard under 200 per game.

Larry DallaBetta, Mitchell
Another good frame to work with at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds–DallaBetta is developing into a dual-threat option for the Mustangs completing 61-percent of his passes (33-of-54) and averaging 144 yards per game through the air. He’s also added 75 yards rushing and a touchdown on the ground to give him eight on the season. The junior has thrown just one interception.

Justin Hall, Sunlake
The Seahawks are back to their usual winning consistency thanks to this 6-foot-3, 185-pound QB. Hall’s zero turnovers this season is a bonus to the 188 yards-per-game average through the air and seven touchdowns thrown. He’s also added two touchdowns on the ground this season for the 3-0 Seahawks.

Austin Sessums, Tampa Catholic
The 6-foot, 175-pounder has found a place and the Crusaders couldn’t be any happier. Sessums has completed 75-percent of his passes through the first three games for TC going 41-of-55 while compiling 675 yards in total. Seesums has thrown seven touchdowns to just one interception.

Class of 2018

Devin Black, Lennard
The Longhorns have a stud in the backfield to ease the burden on Black, but this 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect doesn’t shy away from having to put the team on his arm. Black has completed 13-of-27 through the first two games for Lennard while adding three touchdowns to two interceptions.

Keondre Miller, Admiral Farragut
Miller has completed 69-percent of his passes at 20-of-29 for 471 yards averaging 157 yards-per-game. The Blue Jackets have also seen Miller add eight touchdowns and throw just one interception. Miller has also rushed for 31 yards and a touchdown through the first three weeks.

Colin Wray, Steinbrenner
The sophomore has stepped in for the injured Cason Byrd and has helped the Warriors get off to a 3-0 start. Wray stands at 6-foot-1, 175-pounds and has completed 58-percent of his passes on the season–(35-of-60). That’s good for an average of 172 yards per week thus far. Wray also has a 3:2 touchdown to interception ratio.
