The BCP Distinguished Alumni Award goes to?

And the nominees are? We here at BCP are blessed to have witnessed some amazing talent cross our paths since its inception. This season, we would like to start recognizing (as best we possibly can) those young men that were campers in the early days are well into their college careers and even professional lives in some cases. We hope you enjoy this new weekly segment and if you have nominations, please feel free to share them with us via message board or social media. Remember–it takes a village!

This week’s nominees:
QB Alex McGough, FIU (Gaither)
Completed 21-of-37 for 249 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in a loss to Indiana last Saturday. Although it was loss, McGough’s looked the part this season with a victory in Orlando versus UCF opening week. The Golden Panthers host North Carolina-Central University this weekend. McGough is currently 12th in the nation in completions.

ATH Jeff Smith, Boston College (CCC)
Smith was everywhere for BC in their 76-0 win over Howard last Saturday. He scored three touchdowns on five carries totaling 89 yards in the first half alone and completed 2-of-2 for 18 yards passing as well. The Eagles host Florida State this Friday Night in Chestnut Hill.

DB Jonathan Crawford, Indiana (Largo)
The true freshman Crawford tallied six tackles in the Hoosiers defeat of FIU this past weekend. Indiana hosts the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky in Bloomington this Saturday.

WR Reuben Gonzalez, Jacksonville State (Robinson)
The former USF and always-Robinson Knight nearly stole the show along with his teammates in an OT loss on the plains versus Auburn. Gonzalez was credited with 8 receptions for 101 yards for the Gamecocks. JSU hosts TSU (Tennessee State) this weekend.

RB Matt Breida, Georgia Southern (Nature Coast Tech)
This Shark and now Eagle has showed his Apex predator status coming in 17th in the nation through the first two weeks of the season. Brieda rushed eleven times for 176 yards and four touchdowns in their 43-17 dismantling of Western Michigan in Statesboro. This week, it’s the Citadel coming to town for Brieda and his Eagles.

AND THE VERY FIRST BCP DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD GOES TO?

WE HAVE A TIEā€¦
Reuben Gonzalez – It’s not his fault that the coaching staff took a Vegas-esque roll of the dice and not try to score at the end of regulation. The Gamecocks weren’t able to finish the job, but Gonzalez did his part–that’s for sure. He was also present at BCP’s inaugural even at Hillsborough High School back in 2010.

Matt Breida – Score four touchdowns against a pretty good squad and nearly put up 200 yards and that will help your cause. Breida tore up the turf last season for the Eagles and he looks to be on pace following a tough start in Morgantown to West Virginia the first week of the season.

Honorable Mention: Jeff Smith

REMEMBER–if you want to nominate someone, no matter what level of ball they play–you can do so. Hit us up on social media or on the message board!
