Sleeper Sam

Every time we think we have the Bay Area prospects pegged, there is always a few that open our eyes in a big way. Sam Miller, Dunedin defensive back defines sleeper.

Reviewing hilites of prospects who submitted film from their 2012 season, we came across a senior DB listed at 6-2/190lbs. Size alone attracted us, knowing Dunedin did not have a great season, but had talent raised questions.

Looking at Sam on film, he looked well put together. Great lower body and proportioned upper body. As the film progressed, he showed range with a long stride and long arms to get to balls the average size defensive back would not make a play on. He was doing this at 6-2 playing corner. Vicious hitter, good open field tackler and aggressive with wide receivers.

He also showed great body control and footwork. Usually with a defensive back of his size, it takes the player longer to transition in and out of breaks. Not Sam. He changed direction with limited wasted steps to get to balls quickly. If you have not seen Sam Miller play, see below.
