The offensive lineman were dominate this weekend at the Ignite Combine; yet, that does not mean that there were no shining stars on the defensive side of the ball. Plant City junior defensive end Sedrick King is an amazing athlete who impressed coaches enough to earn co-defensive MVP honors. I spoke to Sedrick last night and got his feelings on the Ignite Camp and his predictions for Raider football team next fall.

Question: How was your experience at the Ignite Camp?
Answer: It was a pretty good experience. I got to come out and show what I am all about. I am originally from Louisiana (Northwood High in Shreveport) and we do not have camp opportunities to show are skills like that there.

Q: So the move to Florida has been a positive experience?
A: It has been very positive. I love playing for Plant City and it is so much easier to get recruited by colleges in Florida. Camps like Ignite are a huge help.

Q: What was the best part of the Ignite Camp this weekend?
A: It had to be the defensive lineman verse offense lineman drills. They were crazy.

Q: Who was the best offensive lineman you went up against at the camp?
A: Without question Isaiah Wynn. That kid is a beast. I do think I got him once though.

Q: What are some things that you need to improve for next year?
A: I have to continue to work on my hands (King also plays TE) and add weight. I only weighed in at 218 this weekend and I need to get bigger for the next level.

Q: Speaking of the next level, how has recruiting been going?
A: I actually got to meet the coach of Michigan State a few weeks ago at Plant City. I have also been getting letter from Missouri, Kentucky and Miami. I don’t have any favorites yet but I plan on taking some visits this summer.

Q: Are you planning on going to anymore camps this summer?
A: I am going to do all the BCP stuff I can because it helps get your name out. I also would like to attend some college camps.

Q: What are your goals for Plant City this year?
A: I want to see us make the playoffs and possibly state.

Q: Are you excited to be in a district with both Durant and Strawberry Crest.
A: Definitely, they are both are main rivals and good teams. Both games should be great but I think Plant City can beat them both.

Q: Finally, how did it feel wining MVP at Ignite this weekend and why do you think you won the award?
A: It felt amazing. I think I finally believe I belong among the big boys in Hillsborough County. My size and athletic ability really stood out and helped me prove myself.
