Northeast sophomore quarterback Ryan Davis tried his hand at a new position last weekend at the Ignite Camp. Davis threw for over 1,500 yards and 16 touchdowns last season and led the Vikings to the first round of the playoffs; however, he might be a better fit as a wide receiver on the next level. Davis decided to play both quarterback and receiver at Ignite and was impressive at both.

Question: How do you feel that you did at the Ignite Camp this weekend?
Answer: I think I did really well. I lined up mostly as a receiver but I threw a few passes also. The competition there was amazing.

Q: How was it lining up as a wide receiver?
A: It was a lot of fun. I want to show scouts that I am a true athlete so it’s important that I line up in different positions at big time combines like Ignite.

Q: What position do you want to play in college?
A: I will line up wherever the coaches want me. I have no real preference. I am a team player that will do what is ever best for my team.

Q: What position will you play next year for Northeast?
A: Definitely quarterback. It’s where I am best fit for high school.

Q: Who was the best defensive back you lined up against this weekend?
A: Cordell Hudson was a beast. He was the best corner at the camp.

Q: Have you started to get recruited by any schools yet?
A: It really hasn’t picked up yet but I still have a lot of time. This summer I am going to attend Friday Night Lights, The Al Golden Camp and a Camp at the University of Georgia so I imagine if I do my best I’ll start getting more looks.

Q: Has your brother (former St. Pete Catholic, FSU and NFL player Chris Davis) talked to you any about recruiting?
A: He has told me to make the decision that is best for me and has not tried to push me towards Florida State. He did tell me to be very careful and to pay close attention to what the coaches were saying during the process.

Q: What is your goal for Northeast this season?
A: I want us to just keep doing good things. I know we can go further than the 1st round of the play-offs next year. We made to many big mistakes during the Manatee game last year.

Q: What do you need to improve in your game before next season?
A: I am always trying to improve. You can always get better. My big goal for myself is to throw for over 3,000 yards.
