HERNANDO COUNTY RECRUITING

Mic’d Up: Hernando’s 2020 LB/DE Cordell Warthen Geared Up For Friday Night lights

Brooksville, June 12, 2019- Today we kick off the week with another camper feature for your Tuesday in student-athlete, Cordell Warthen. The Leopards wrapped up this past season at 7-4 as a wildcard 5-seed first-round playoff team with some newly-structured mentorship in head coach Rob Kazmier at the helm. The year before last (2017, 7-3 overall), was Hernando’s most recent season with a positive outcome since the 6-5 2012 record they posted. The tracks to this youthful rollercoaster have been re-aligned and this senior leader is ready to set the record straight and aide greatly in keeping the squad’s post-season productivity within reach.

On Sunday at BCP’s annual skill camp above and on film, the 6’0″ 210-pound edge rusher displayed his high-energy motor and impressive block-shedding abilities like nobody’s business. Cordell still has one more year in the purple and gold to create chaos in the front seven throughout the district for offensive backfields and has no intentions of slowing down. His quick thinking and devotion to training and tracking down ball carriers in his time as a Leopard helped him tally 26 total tackles (12 solo), 1 TFL, a sack, and 4+ QB hurries in 10 games played according to MaxPreps data.
