Mic’d Up: 2021 Lakeland DT Dalton Schellhammer Thriving In The Trenches

Lakeland, June 7, 2019- The Dreadnaughts added yet another piece of State Championship hardware to their trophy case, (their 8th Title) with a flawless 15-0 record and 4-0 in their district seven standings; making them a top three championship-winning team in the sunshine state. The dominant Class 7A squad in the orange and black now rank second (only behind IMG Academy) in Florida HS ball, nineteenth nationally, and come in at 18th on MaxPreps’ Xcellent 25 national rankings. Today though, we delve into a more specific feature within the program with BCP camper and incoming junior defensive lineman, Dalton Schellhammer who contributed to the momentous success story.

Dalton was at the forefront of every drill this past Sunday that involved a defensive lineman, ready for all situations that stood in his line of vision. Schellhammer showcased his low center of gravity with his stocky 5’10” 240-pound build and his ability to read offensive body language, whipping out some impressive finesse moves in one v ones. He utilized every ounce of energy anytime he stuck his hand in the ground and it spoke volumes. The short, to the point film below, personifies just a taste of what he brings to the table within the trenches and the type of grinding ethic you can expect. Did I mention he’s a workaholic in the classroom too? Sustaining a 4.1 GPA as a student with no demanding extracurriculars is no easy feat, let alone a committed athlete.
