MacCollom Shootout: Whidden goes off to shoot Tigers past Pirates

Jesuit vs Boca Ciega

First Half – Jesuit came out on fire. Hitting from every angle offensively and high defensive pressure. Tigers swarmed the ball and made sound passes. On the defensive side of the ball, they had hands in passing lanes and limited the Pirates to just one shot per possession. Tigers led by 10 headed into the second quarter when Bogie finally started warming up. Raeshon Dunbar moved the lights on the clock by hitting a few 15 footers and a few garbage points from loose balls. Bogie struggled to get off any clean shots as the Tigers contested every attempt. First half high scorers; Raeshon Dunbar, Boca Ciega 9, Christian Whidden, Jesuit 15.

Second Half – Jesuit cooled off in quarter 3. Slightly out hustled and outscored 14-12 in that period. Bogie used a full court press to create several turnovers and tough shots for the Tigers. Bogie worked the offensive glass, resulting in second chance shots. In the final period, The Pirates kept the pressure on as good things were happening for them on offense resulting form tense defensive pressure. The fourth quarter was not as good to the Pirates. Jesuit finally settled down and took care of the ball. Shots started falling again and before you could blink an eye, they were up by 26. Jesuit won the fourth quarter by 7 points.
