MacCollom Shootout: Pipes drops 19 points in the third quarter in win over IRC

Sunlake vs Indian Rocks

First Half – Both teams played a pretty clean game. Not many attempts from the foul line by either team. Sunlake jumped ahead early moving the ball around the horn and taking quality, high percentage shots. IRC was able to penetrate the Seahawk defense but missed several bucket five feet and closer. Tanner McGuire, Sunlake lead all scorers in the first half with 9 points (4 field goals, 1 foul shot). He was very aggressive to the paint and made each shot attempt count. Junior G Ty Majlik was the first half top scorer for IRC (8 points). At the end of the first two periods, Sunlake led 29-21 over the home Golden Eagles.

Second Half – Justin Pipes went off in the third period hit 4 three’s on his way to 19 points for the quarter. Ended the game as the Sunlake MVP with 22 total points. The game came down to the wire. In the fourth, IRC tied the contest at 63, Ty Majlik pair of free throws. Then Sunlake answered back with Jake Roberts big 3 pointer from the corner. The shot put Sunlake up 66-63 with 1 min remaining. IRC Zach Trador shot a pair of technical foul free throws. Made both. Score 66-65 Sunlake. Seahawks Sam Baldwin steal, break away lay up made the count 68-65 Sunlake. IRC’s Ty Majlik grabbed an offensive board put back and fouled. Missed the foul shot. 68-67 Sunlake. Pipes fouled and missed both free throws with 17 seconds left. Same score.

IRC gets the ball at mid court and could not convert on three separate attempts. Final Sunlake 68 Indian Rocks 67
