John Lima Officially Resigns as Brandon Head Coach

JOhn Lima

Brandon head football coach John Lima has officially resigned today. Reports were filed in December that Lima was fired from Brandon but that was not the case. Lima had technically been the head football coach up until this morning when he signed his letter of recommendation.

In fact, Brandon administration never even presented Lima with a letter of termination. The Eagles simply presented him with a letter stating he voluntarily resigned, which up until today he had not signed.

Lima led the Eagles to two straight playoff berths and handed Plant City its only regular season loss before losing to Tampa Bay Tech in the first round of the playoffs this year.

Lima compiled a 29-35 record in six seasons at Brandon.

Coach Lima drafted a letter which was published on the team’s website today (brandonfootball.com).

Dear Players & Parents,

After taking time to sort out all the details and angles regarding my job as Brandon’s Head Football Coach, I have finally decided that it is in everyone’s best interest for me to resign. I am still teaching at Brandon and will follow thru with my commitment to our teams’ seniors.

The best thing your players can do is stay together and have a great off-season, and welcome the new coaches with a great attitude. You players have won 16 games in the last 2 years because of the collective drive you’ve brought to our workouts, practices and games. Keep doing that so you can continue the success you started.

I want to thank all of the players and coaches at Brandon over the last six years, for making my times here some of the very best of my life. I am leaving with great memories, great friendships and a lot of pride in what we accomplished here.

I am an Eagle for Life.
