Armwood assistant coach John Kelly was named the next head football coach at Strawberry Crest early Friday morning.

Kelly, who was the strength and conditioning and tight ends coach at Armwood, replaces Gerald Dickens who resigned after a 1-9 on Jan. 4.

Kelly is an Armwood grad and coached under former Strawberry Crest head coach Todd Donohoe.

Along with being named head football coach Kelly will keep his position as head boys track coach at Strawberry Crest. The Chargers are looking for some consistency and a long-time coach after going through three head coaches in the last four years.
