Is this the year they make the playoffs?…
The Lancers finished 8-2 on the season and that broke a string of three consecutive 6-4 seasons for Cambridge. Before that, they went 4-6 in back-to-back campaigns so last year’s 8-win mark was a huge success. They’ll have to face the season having to replace their QB Garrett Young who rushed and threw for over 3,000 yards last season combined, but they’ll have the services of a pair of 2018’s in Andrew Cunningham (RB) and Richard Gouraige (DE) to try and make that happen, which is a pretty good pair of prospects to have.
There’s more than meets the eye…
Bradenton Christian went 5-5 last season, while CDS finished the season at 4-5. Throw them together with Seffner Christian and you’ve got a very highly competitive district and one that could provide fireworks when these three teams play each other. The odd-men out are Out-of-Door Academy at this point, but that insanely young roster does have another year under its belt and will give someone in this district a scare if not taken seriously.
Hey! You’re new here, aren’t you?
Welcome Seffner Christian from the Sunshine State Athletic Conference where they were a playoff squad and will return a nice little signal-caller in Jacob Couch. The young man went for over 2,000 yards and 15 touchdowns last season for the Crusaders. They’re season hits the ground running at St. Pete Catholic then a huge early district-opener at CDS,they will host Halifax Academy from Daytona Beach before hitting the road to Admiral Farragut the final week of September and the final week of prep before facing off with Cambridge.
