The land of misfit teams…
Those aren’t our words, but those of Tenoroc Head Coach Chris Davidson. He made those remarks at Polk County’s Crying Towel event and he’s right. Not a single team finished the season over .500 and six of those seven teams won three games or less. Three of those teams finished 1-9. The teams hail from the far reaches of Polk County, to Lakeland, to the sawgrass swamps in the Everglades to the city of Fort Myers and all points between. One of them was playing independent ball last season. All of that equals? Awesomeness.

Ironically, it’s best game may be week one…
How very 4A-6 of this district to conduct itself by scheduling perhaps its best game on September 18th. That’s when the Titans of Tenoroc will travel to Avon Park to face the Red Devils in a game that “features” teams that went a combined 3-18 last season. Both squads return big chunks of their rosters and this one could be an old-fashioned small town Friday Night Lights battle royal.

Why not Tenoroc?
With a district as crazy as this one could potentially be, why not consider the Titans one of the favorites to make it to the postseason? They’ve got a player by the name of Keyon Walters that is lightning in a bottle and with several other pieces returning they could realistically achieve 3-4 wins in this group which means? Yeah, not only triple their win total from last season but also that means they’re headed to the postseason as possible district champs. We actually cannot wait to see how this group of “misfits” gets along in 2015 to be quite honest.
