Make no mistake, we see-see-see what CCC is doing…
Not. Falling. For. It. They may have lost 23 seniors to graduation and there’s positions that will have so much youth they will need “binkies” according to Head Coach John Davis, but CCC is still the class of this district and the region and will be knocking on the door of the state semifinals again come seasons’ end. They don’t have to brag or boast about what they’ve got (even if they’re young) because we can do that for them. There’s going to be some speed bumps this season, but the Marauders-still-gonna-Marauder when the time comes. For now, we can all sit back and enjoy Coach Davis’ young ins’ find their way this season.
This district is still competitive; even in transition…
Cardinal Mooney and Calvary Christian have some work ahead of them, but they’re not without pieces to make this district interesting. Calvary will host Mooney in the first weekend of district play on the 2nd of October and that could set the tone for the second postseason spot with the both of them still having to play CCC. The Warriors went 7-4 last season and Cardinal Mooney went 8-4 before giving CCC all they could handle in the regional finals. Saint Petersburg Catholic went winless in 2014, but Head Coach Shannon Brooks won’t have them winless for long.

We mentioned the October 2nd match-up between Cardinal Mooney and Calvary Christian. That game is likely to put one of these teams in the drivers seat since CCC will travel to Calvary the following week. The game on October 30th down in Sarasota “could” be for all the marbles when the Marauders head to face the Cougars. CCC will get some stiff tests before heading into district play with contests at Berkley Prep, Indian Rocks Christian and DeSoto County before hosting Groveland-South Lake and Tampa Catholic. Cardinal Mooney will also face DeSoto County and Berkley Prep, while traveling down to Fort Myers to face Bishop Verot and they will also travel to face state-ranked Venice from 7A.
