Evaluating Lake Wales 2023 LB Sean Major

Lake Wales has several big-time players returning from last season’s 9-3 playoff team. Rising senior inside linebacker Sean Majors is one of them. As a junior, he was in on 133 total tackles with an incredible 111 of those being solo stops. He also had 26 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 2 fumble recoveries. Taking these numbers and his junior film into account, it is easy to see why Major was selected as an All BCP First Team player at inside linebacker. Lake Wales’ Hudl currently has him listed at 5’10” 205 pounds.

On film, Major shows off a textbook skill-set for a middle linebacker and he is very consistent. He is a hardnosed football player who finds the football quickly and tackles well. He comes downhill nicely and takes good angles while playing with great energy.

Opinion, he is exactly the type of player you want at the heart of your defense. His Twitter bio reports a 3.97 GPA and it shows that he is a member of the National Honor Society. He is also already registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center. He is clearly a leader off of the field also.

Major will be an absolute steal for any college football program that is not laser-focused on measurements. There have been many big-time linebackers under 6’ tall throughout history. Programs that focus on production over prototypes need to give this young man a follow.
