PINELLAS COUNTY

Clark’s Week 3 Game Reaction

East Lake 34, Tarpon Springs 14

East Lake shows it is still at Top team in Pinellas with this dominant performance against their heated cross town rival.  East Lake may have the toughest early season schedule of all Pinellas teams with  Ocala Trinity Catholic coming to town and then a trip to Largo.

Boca Ciega 48, Northeast 3

Boca Ciega
Boca Ciega

Boca Ciega proves that it has definitely improved under Antez Brinson.  The defense was lights out and now you have to consider them a serious contender for their district among Tarpon and Largo.

Countryside 28, Largo 18

The changing of the guard in Pinellas is upon us.  Jared Davis is still undefeated in the regular season and there is a high likely hood that the cougars will remain undefeated this season.  Largo is not that far off they are just not in Countryside’s league this year.  Their district is up for grabs but you have to keep the Packers as the front runners.  Between Lakewood Ranch, Boca Ciega, and Tarpon there will be a good team left home in this district.

Canterbury 12, Admiral Farragut 10

The injuries to Admiral Farragut may have essentially cost them a chance to compete for “State”.  They were the front runners but with the slew of injuries they will be hard pressed to even make the playoffs with CDS, and IRC games looming.  Right now, they will need Jenkins to come back early to save the day especially if Cortavious Givens is out for the season.

Gibbs 19, Spoto 13

Call it winning ugly, call it lucky.  All I know is Gibbs is undefeated and putting their eye on the district title.  This year’s rivalry game against Lakewood to be played Thursday October 6th that has been moved to Gibbs, will mean much more than in previous years.  Both teams have legit shots at the playoffs as it stands now.

Note: Countryside and Lakewood are 1 and 2 in the county right now and you can make an argument for either.  Head to head in pre season action, Lakewood won but that was with Dante Fowler and again it was Pre Season so how much credit do you give them for that?  The season will distinguish these 2 who do not play in regular season action.  The rest of the spots are all up for grabs with Largo, East Lake, Gibbs, and Boca Ciega all fighting to claim a seat at the table.  Three of those four teams have one thing in common and that is a loss to Countryside.
