BCP Summer Position Rankings: OL

Lakewood 2013 offensive tackle, Logan McNeil moved into the BCP position ranking with a strong Spring and Summer. Slightly overshadowed by 2014 offensive tackle and teammate, Isaiah Wynn, McNeil is making a name for himself with his play, not his talk.

“It feels great to be ranked. It’s a great honor. Colleges look at it. It’s a really good opportunity,” said McNeil. He currently holds verbal offers from Tennessee State and Ohio. More importantly, he anchors the right sight of a developing Lakewood offensive line.

The linemen don’t get an extreme amount of attention. The media does not “love ‘em” up as deserved. Especially the offensive linemen. They have no pretty stats to brag about, as the defensive linemen do. No sacks, tackles for loss or caused fumbles. They don’t get a pretty single digit jersey number or really cool looking visor. Wristbands look funny and knee braces become part of the uniform.

However, inside the locker room and to the teammates who align behind them on the field, the offensive linemen are the most important players on a football team.

McNeil expressed his excitement for the 2012 season. He reiterated he and his team were working extremely hard preparing for the upcoming season. The Spartans have a competitive district and long season approaching, but surrounded by talent, McNeil and the rest of the his Lakewood team have a legitimate chance to be a playoff contender.
