Gibbs Runs All Over Lennard 26-0

Not knowing much about these teams, I didn’t know what to expect when I got to the game. I knew that Lennard QB, Pete Foret had an arm. I was told that Gibbs had some athletes in Gary Simon, Emmanuel Stewart, and Devonte White. Other than that, I didn’t know much. While watching this game, I saw some athletes on both teams that I’d love to watch play again. In my opinion, the game was a lot more physical and closer than what the scoreboard read at the end, the Gibbs Gladiators shut the Lennard Longhorns out 26-0.

Don’t count Lennard out yet. Even though they started out strong in their pre-season classic against Leto, 42-8, since the regular season started, the Longhorns offense has yet to score. After watching #16 QB, Foret, last night, you could see the frustration whenever he threw the ball. The majority of the throws would fall right between the hands of his targeted receivers. However, this kid is as athletic as can be. Not only did he play QB, he was in on defense and special teams. Every time I looked on the field, this kid was there. Lennard RBs, #13 KG Green and #30 Kaylab Phillips, both seemed to be the only way the offense got anywhere on the ground, except for when QB Foret kept the ball and ran. Look for Green and Phillips to only get better as the season goes on.
Gibbs was full of athletes but a few stuck out more. QB and play caller #3, Devonte White was able to connect with his targeted receivers, mainly #7 Gary Simon. Between his passing and run game, White is going to give a lot of defenses trouble. Simon, who was probably the most athletic kid on the field last night, impressed a lot. He could not be stopped, and when they could actually catch up to him, it took several defenders to tackle him. On defense, Simon looked like a man among boys. He’s definitely going to be a player that we’ll be watching on Saturdays in the near future. RB #5, Emmanuel Stewart, had a great start to the game, but was injured and as a precaution, Coach Knox kept him out after that. When he gets back to being healthy, this Gibbs run game is going to be scary for many opponents. I’m excited to watch them progress this season.
