Bartow is a tradition rich school. One of the oldest schools and football program is Polk County. A very good program in the mid 80’s and early 90s. Even earned a state championship in 1996; 14-1 under Danny Smith crowned District Champions,Regional Champions and eventually State Champions.
Bartow’s success has dipped in recent years.

Jason Butler takes over as the head coach of the Jackets. Former Lakeland Drednaught defensive coordinator, South Florida Bull line backer and Bartow alum. Butler has his work cut out for him, but by the looks of things, there is a bright future for Bartow.
It was easy to notice the organization and transition of practice. All coaches were involved and player knew the expectations. Their level of attentiveness was excellent and they bounced around excited to practice. Verteran QB, Dimitri Leverette seems to be adjusting well to the new staff and has embraced the leadership role. A few other players jumped out.
Devin McCoy 2015 WR and Deyontre Jordan 2015 WR looked the part. Jordan is Long, rangy, athletic receiver. Caught the ball well today. Showed good footwork during individual drills and is able to get in and out of breaks smoothly. McCoy has deceptive speed, good hands and more athletic than expected.
Really wish I would have attended during a contact practice. Wanted to see John Kilpatrick 2014 LB active. Stands around 5-10, but thick and fast. His film is very impressive and would liked to have seem him live.
