South Florida hosted numerous 2013 prospects this weekend visiting the campus and meeting the football coaching staff on their official visits. A few Tampa Bay prospects spending time with the Bulls were Freedom’s Nate Godwin, Robinson’s Bruce Hector and Hillsborough’s Nigel Harris.

“It [The visit] went great, had a good time” said Bruce Hector. Hector is a USF verbal commit who has stayed committed to the Bulls even though he took a few other visits. Hector went with open eyes, eager to meet the new staff under new head coach Willie Taggart. Hector committed to USF while Skip Holtz was still in charge and says even with the new staff, he will likely play on the defensive side of the ball at tackle or end.

When asked if the visit changed his opinion on the school and football program either for the good or bad, his response was, “It did for the better. Got a good feel for the guys and coaches and made me like it more” Hector is a 2012 1st Team ALL BCP Selection, “I really enjoyed it and I’m really excited to be a Bull”.

Nate Godwin really enjoyed his visit as well, “Went great man I loved it. Made me realize how much I love my city”. Godwin decommitted from Minnesota and committed to USF soon after Taggart become the head coach. What opened Godwin’s eyes was Family. “I got to see how family oriented the team is. It’s like a family. They will do anything for each other”.

Godwin has the ability to play either corner or safety and says that is what the staff really likes about him. “Coaches love how I’m versatile. Enough to fill run gaps at safety and my ability to cover on the edge and against slots. Expected to come in and play early if I do what I have to do”.

Did the visit change your opinion on the school and football program either for the good or bad? Godwin expressed, “Yes it did. And for the good. The team is a very hungry football team. And I love how family oriented the whole football family is. On a scale from 1-10 it was 1,000 [laughter]!

Hillsborough’s all purpose stud, Nigel Harris was very impressed with USF. According to Harris, the visit, “It was great. I really like the coaching staff and I have to talk to the defensive coordinator more about it because he just got there. I feel good about USF”.

Harris will visit Wake Forest this weekend. He also expressed how shocked he was when after one year at Pitt, Dave Huxtable left to NC State. Harris is an uncommitted prospect and a First Team All BCP Selection this year.
