Wildcats prey on Chiefs 37-7

OVERALL
Wharton caught fire in the second half as they never got away from their original game plan. A respectable dose of the run, balanced with a good air attack and stiff defense, kept Wharton at a distance, in front of Chamberlain. In short, Chamberlain did not only play Wharton, but themselves. Killed many of their own drives with costly penalties.

Wharton – The Start
The Wildcats started the game fast, putting together a nice drive on their first possession, finished off with a Chase Litton QB sneak. Followed by a Rocky Enos scoop and score for a TD. Wharton then cooled off. Penalties, miscommunication and turnovers stifled Wildcat drives in the first half.

Wharton – Did Well
Most impressive about the Wildcat win, kept to their game plan. Chase Litton started a little rocky; Two first half interceptions and a few inaccurate passes. He was not helped much as Chamberlain limited Wharton to just 27 first half rushing yards.

However, Wharton did not panic. They kept with the game plan and it worked to perfection in the second half. Litton got into a groove: 7/10, 155 yards and 2 TD passes (finished, 13/24 for 216 yards, 3 TD passes, 1 rush TD, 2 INTs) in the second half. Chiefs still held their ground against Wharton rushing game, limiting them to 24 second half rush yards.

Wharton – Owned the Night
Rocky Enos, Wharton 2013 LB, absolutely owned the night. It was if Wharton was playing with 12 on defense because there had to be two Enos on the field. He was a man amongst boys, on every play. Eliminated ball carriers, several tackles for loss and a scoop and score. The defense rallied around his play and fed off his energy. Vernon Hargreaves had a solid performances, playing close to the defensive front seven, involved on several tackles and key 3rd down stops.  Caught a 22 yard TD pass and converted a 2pt conversion.

Chamberlain – Misfired all Night
Whenever Chamberlain got moving and had the Wharton defense on their heels, undisciplined penalties killed their momentum. Chiefs finished the game with 10 penalties for 105 yards. The uptempo offense was effective at times. Kept Wharton from making substitution changes in situations that would have helped them be more effective on defense. Xavier Johnson was the workhorse again. He finished the game with a quiet 21 carries for 125 yards.

Chamberlain – Solid Night
Ronnie Scott, Chamberlain ATH finished the game with 2 interceptions and 1 rushing TD. Played a variety of different positions, including QB.
