What Just Happened?! Conflict, Confusion & Unexpected Competition Rule the Opening 3 Weeks

Week 4 of the high school football season is here already and there’s been enough fireworks to light up the Tampa Bay sky. We told you that September would carry special significance due to some teams playing half of their season before October rolls around. It has not disappointed us in the least as fans or writers. Within the first 3 weeks, there have been plenty of surprises and unexpected accomplishments. Below is a list of events, stats and player performances that we at BCP were not expecting at this point of the football season. Take a look

WE DID NOT EXPECT…
Alonso to defeat King at King and start the 2011 season 3-0

King to start the season 1-2 though QB, Greg Windham threw for over 300 yards in both losses.

Admiral Farragut losing a game period. Even more surprising, the number of injuries to Farragut’s key playmakers.

Freedom Patriots to start the season at 0-3 while allowing 94 total points

Canterbury and Cambridge being one of the most entertaining games of the year ending in a 45-44 Canterbury win.

Tampa Tech, RB, Clunder LeCount to start the season on fire with on fire with 53 carries, 334 yards and averaging 6.3 yards per carry.

Tarpon Springs to get hammered by East Lake 34-14 after starting the season off 2-0.

Strawberry Crest to have given up the second most points in the Bay Area (137) in three games.

Blake High QB, Zain Gilmore to have completed more than 60% of his passes and to be tops in Tampa
Bay with 436 passing yards.

Leto scoring 36 point in a lose to Riverview; over 1/3 the points the Falcons have scored in the last 2 seasons (90pts).

Chamberlain RB, Xavier Johnson to rush for 232 yards on 34 big carries vs. Wharton and to be 6th in the state of Florida (according to Maxpreps) in rush yards 547 yards.

Anyone to rush the rock 40 times for 340 yards in one game, but Brandon’s Tyrell Garner did vs. Freedom.

Tampa Bay to have 2 passers in the Top 10 in yards in the state of Florida (according to Maxpreps).

Lennard to defeat and shut out Middleton.

Palm Harbor QB, Billy Pavlock to be 18 for 19 passing 94% comp.

Jesuit QB, Tommy Eveld to be sharing snaps at QB and still averaging 120 ypg with 360 yards passing in 3 games.

Destin Nichols, Berkeley Prep QB, to have thrown 10 TD passes in 3 games.

Cambridge Christian to be so balanced on offense; 730 yards passing and 11 TDs, 724 yards rushing with 8 TDs.

Bloomingdale to start 2-0 and be very competitive, currently at 2-1 with a last minute lose to East Bay
