Tough start to Charger season, has screams for Donohoe to return to The Crest

The resignation of former Strawberry Crest head football coach, Todd Donohoe and the difficult start to the 2011 season, has SOME Strawberry Crest supporters upset and as a result  have put together a Facebook page calling for Donohoe “to come back”.

Todd Donohoe’s resignation was a shock to the Bay Area and especially his team.  But the Chargers had to move forward.  On June 30th, this past summer, Strawberry Crest Athletic Director, Melvin Williams, announced the hiring Coach Gerald Dickens, former Plant City Recruiting Coordinator, as the new SC football coach.

It is always tough for a new head football coach to establish his program.  Even harder when the program it’s self is just 3 years old.  The Chargers have struggled early being outscored 12-137 and winless.  The lack of success has seemingly cause some Crest supporters to voice their opinions by creating a Facebook page titled Donohoe for coach.  SEE HERE (note: the opinions on the facebook page do not reflect the opinions of the Strawberry Crest Charger football team or supporters as a whole).

I spoke with coach Dickens and he simply stated “The team knew this was coming and we have prepared for it.  We are pushing forward.  We were notified about this web page and it does not concern us”.

A similar situatuation erupted at PHU this spring.  Palm Harbor, FL — The dismissal of Palm Harbor University’s head football coach, Mark Haye, has many parents upset and as a result are rallying together to fight for a coach they strongly believe in.
