Wharton’s Chase Litton commits to Green and Gold

Chase Litton, Wharton 2014 QB at 2012 USF Super Bull

The last three years have shown a steady upward climb for Wharton 2014 QB Chase Litton, who reached an important milestone in his high school football career today by verbally committing to the University of South Florida to continue his football career and further his education.

Litton choice USF over Marshall, UMASS, FAU, FIU, Eastern Kentucky, Western and Michigan.  Last season he threw for 2732 yards, 181 for 310, 58.4%, 23TDs and 10 INTs.

Litton’s evolution is a direct reflection of his growth and coaching. Offensive Coordinator, Craig Rainey has been more than just a play caller for the Wildcats. He has been a mentor and fan. On several occasions, he has pointed to Litton’s development as a direct correlation to his development as a leader and learning from his mistakes. He expressed how much he has enjoyed watching Litton grow this past season and expecting him to be better in 2013.

QB Trainer, Chip Bennett who has trained Litton for the past few off seasons says, “For the past year and a half Chase’s learning curve has been straight upward. He really caught on to what he was being taught. He understands now the importance of where his feet are in relationship to the throw. He got away from the bouncy/toesy base and understands the need for a wide and balanced base. The 2 biggest things Chase has matured on is his ability to correct himself when he throws a bad ball. He undertands now why the ball was bad and how to self correct it. The other is his work in the classroom. Chase has learned how to properly break down film. He can easily detect pressure indictators and that leads to an advantage of where to go with the ball. Personnally, I think alot of BCS schools have missed the boat on him. His upside is tremendous and he is now ready to run a collegiate offense.”

Before Litton runs out the tunnel as a Bull, the BCP Ignite Showcase two time standout wants to run out the tunnel in Orlando in the state championship game. Plenty of huddles will present themselves, but with the help of his coaching staff and teammates, Litton should remain focused on his team goal to help further his personal accomplishments.
