Wednesday’s Workout: More Highlights from e7 Summer

There are plenty more names that are worth mentioning from Sunday’s e7 Summer event in Land O’Lakes. Here now are nine more guys that created some attention for themselves during the camp and that could create even more attention for themselves come this regular season for their respective squads.

2016 Lake Wales WR, Mustafa Majeed
2016 Lake Wales WR, Mustafa Majeed

WR – Mustafa Majeed, Lake Wales (6-1,160) -2016
Majeed was out on the West Coast last season playing for Monte Vista Christian in the Monterey Bay area. He was a playmaker for that squad and looks to keep the momentum going this season for the Highlanders. Majeed’s long and explosive off the line, is definitely a speed demon, possesses good explosion from the line of scrimmage and very fluid in his route-running.

WR – Keyshon Hopkins, Crystal River (6-2/160) -2016
Hopkins was definitely one of the bright lights within this position group and showed the ability to make the difficult look easy at times in 1-on-1’s. Good footwork and hands along with quick change of direction helped Hopkins win many of his battles on Sunday. Hopkins played both ways for the Pirates producing over 500 yards in receiving, rushing and the return game along with 27 tackles, 2 interceptions and a caused fumble on defense last season.

RB – Tyreek Carter, Hillsborough (5-8/180) -2017
A real solid and consistent performance was turned in by this young man who played sparingly on the defensive side for the Terriers last season, but worked well with the running backs during camp and could develop into a nice 1-2 combo to compliment Duran Bell Jr. in the backfield. Carter showed good feet and hands along with some nice work during pass protection drills against the linebackers.

RB – Chris Schwarz, River Ridge (5-9,198) -2016
Most of us should be familiar with this young man by now based on his numbers in pads alone. But there was certainly some intrigue surrounding his first appearance at a BCP event. Schwarz didn’t disappoint going through his paces during 1-on-1’s and individual drills. He showed good hands, crisp route-running and the technical and physical ability to handle whatever’s necessary in the pass protection department.

2016 Boca Ciega OL, Jermaine Ledbetter
2016 Boca Ciega OL, Jermaine Ledbetter

OL – Jermaine Ledbetter, Boca Ciega (6-3,263) -2016
Absolutely no telling where this young man’s ceiling gets set as he begins just his second season of playing football. He’s bound to garner major interest based on his body type alone and the given fact that college coaches drool over raw talent such as this. He’s shows the signs of becoming a beast, but for now will have to work tirelessly on technique and his footwork and turn that into muscle memory in order to make up for lost time and get to the level that will justify the offers.

OL – Mike Hamilton, Tampa Catholic (6-0,285) -2016
Another intriguing prospect that has the potential to be a major component in the Crusaders plans for their front, Hamilton worked on the offensive line and held his own against the defensive lineman all day long. During 1-on-1’s working on pass protection, Hamilton had some very nice moments where he was stone-walling rushers with his strength and technique.

OL – Trevon Lincoln, Brooksville Central (6-3,305) -2016
This young man looks really impressive in-or-out of pads. He possesses a nice explosion out of his stance and some pretty shifty feet for a big fella with the ability to slide and change direction nicely. Lincoln had a good day whether it was working on his technique in drills or facing competition in 1-on-1’s on Sunday.

DL – J’won Pickett, Zephyrhills Christian (5-11,227) -2016
This young man is an absolute load to bring down once he’s moving in your direction. It doesn’t hurt that Pickett’s also got some pretty nice hands and technique to go along with his speed and size. Pickett enjoyed much success during 1-on-1’s and looks to be an important piece to the defensive puzzle for ZCA this fall.

LB – Thomas Roman, Countryside (5-10,210) -2016
Roman had a very productive day on Sunday. Last season Roman posted 41 tackles with a sizable chunk of those for losses at 11.5 along 4 sacks and a fumble recovery for the Cougars. Roman’s ability to read and react to cause disruption isn’t just instinctive alone. It still takes quick change of direction, good angles and plenty of strength to finish the play and even without pads you can tell that Roman has those tools in his box when he comes to the job site.
