Doesn’t matter if they were already invited to the dance, these guys were there to break as many hearts as they could and show the young bucks that the work doesn’t stop. Seminole’s Brandon Walton has been tearing up the offseason and the offers continue to grow along with his frame and his skill set. Walton was described as “easily coachable” by one of his position coaches and was clearly one of the most impressive guys on the field. No need for MVP awards as he just went about his business on the day and got better.
A pair of Zephyrhills Christian Academy prospects continue to bust their butts in the offseason as RB Darrell Cook and WR Issac Johnson got quality reps during drills and both made some impressive plays during 1-on-1’s. Cook was especially effective this time working with on his pass catching ability against the LB’s and Johnson was simply doing what we now come to expect him to do and that’s make the difficult look easy. The Warriors will have three players representing the school at Xecutives as Mykh’ael Chavis picked up an MVP award at the TE spot.
Plant QB Kyle Trina completed some nice passes and continues to develop as he prepares to back-up Rex Culpepper for the Panthers and be ready to go if any adversity should happen and he be called upon to lead the squad. Trina looks to be getting a little stronger in his upper body and is working on his release as well. Ridgewood’s Glass Wilson V picked up MVP honors as mentioned on Monday putting together the most-consistent performance out of any RB on the field. Wilson made a beautiful over-the-shoulder catch during drills that turned some heads in the morning session.
Hillsborough’s Armand Chalk had some really nice moments showing off some brute strength along with nice moves on the pass rush. Chalk is built like a fire hydrant and can really throw some serious kinks into plans of RB’s that plan on simply chipping him before running into the flat. The linebacker is also a part of a large contingent of Terriers that will be on the field on the 28th at Xecutives.
Last, but certainly not least is one of the regular bullies-on-the-block along the offensive line and that is Sunlake’s Joe Russum. This big fella was up to his usual stunts as he tossed and twisted opposing DL prospects during 1-on-1’s and once again had the guys calling him out when it came time to participate in a little impromptu Bull in the Ring action at the conclusion of the day.
