Tremendous. Stupendous. Excellent. Impressive. Outstanding. All words that describe  the day that Vernon Hargreaves III had at the Under Armour Combine.

Impressive throughout individual drills.

40: 4.3
Broad Jump: 10.5
Bench Reps: 11 at 185 lbs
Shuttle: 4.03

The 40, shuttle and broad jump numbers were all tops in his group; A group of “stars” as the combine listed the top 25 players on the Under Armour official roster.

Vernon’s impressive day didn’t stop with individual drills. He dominated 1-on-1’s as well. Hargreaves locked down every wide receiver the coaches put him on during the 1-on-1 drills. He came up with one interception on a 40-yard-go route where he out jumped a taller WR snagging the ball at its highest point. The Wharton junior was actually beat one time. Armwood’s Alvin Bailey was able to get behind Hargreaves after making a quick move across Hargreaves’ outside shoulder on a go route. The two had a laugh about it after the combine.

Hargreaves continued to impress during 7-on-7’s as well. He was put on the No. 1 defensive squad. Quarterbacks threw in Hargreaves direction one time. He intercepted that pass.

Hargreaves turned in a 4.03 shuttle time

If you put 1-on-1’s and the 7-on-7 together Hargreaves faced somewhere in he neighborhood of 25-30 plays. Only one beat him.

If you are a fan of rankings, Hargreaves was easily one of the top two cornerbacks there. If you are a fan of stars, well lets just say you’ll see a lot of stars shining next to his name. If you are a fan of national position ranks, keep his name close by.

Hargreaves, already receiving heavy attention, will continue to reel in offers from the top schools in the nation.

In my eyes Hargreaves had the MOST impressive combine of anyone there. I of course can’t see everyone at every drill. I asked a handful of other recruiters (from the state of Florida and nationwide) if anyone had a better combine than him; the general consensus was that no one was as impressive as him.

Vernon Hargreaves III represented for Wharton. He represented for Hillsborough County. He represented for the state of Florida as a whole. He was beyond impressive.
