RECRUITING THE BOX

Under Armour Combine Snippets

There was a good showing at the combine with lots of talent nationally.  while I wasn’t able to see them all I did get a good look at some top prospects and some people you all may be familiar with here they go.

QB:

  • Joe Barrett IV-  S.H. Rider High school Wichita Falls Texas- Tabbed as one of the top QB prospects for 2013 he came in and showed what people were raving about.  He was the most fluid and accurate QB there today.  Overall it wasn’t a great showing for the QB’s but Barrett definitely stood out and proved why he is a top notch prospect.  Last year his team lost in the state semifinals.
  • Jarrett Solomon- Bishop Goreman High School Las Vegas Nevada- After losing to Arwmood week 1 Goreman won the rest of their games and the state title.  Meanwhile Solomon has broken and set the Career yardage and TD passes for Gorman and the state of Nevada Large school classification in his 3 years starting.  He had lot’s of glowing things to say about Armwood as well.  Solomon stated they were by far the best team they played since he had been in school.  He also stated he was even a bit surprised they kept it close but would love to play them again.  In drills today he showed nice footwork and accuracy.  He is being recruited by Arizona State, Arizona, Utah, San Diego State, and USC.  On his Career he has 101 TDS and 7100 yards.

DL

  • Deadrin Senat- Immokalee High School-  Before today Senat was a rather unknown prospect and he got an invite based off of making connections with several people in the recruiting industry.  He did not disappoint as he dominated the Linemen one on one drills and broke the record for the 185 bench press.  He impressed so much so that he earned the MVP for the linemen group.  He showed a great 1st step hand movement and pure raw strength.  After reviewing his highlights he had a great Jr season and will look to improve upon the great season Immokalee  had last year almost making it to states.  I will have a more detailed article on Senat later going more into his background and the struggles he had growing up and now finally seeing the fruits of hard work.  Senat Currently does not hold any offers but that is very likely to change once teams notice this diamond in the rough.
  • Derrick Calloway- Manatee High school-  One of the most dominating units of the entire Florida state finals series was the Manatee defensive line and Calloway was a major part of that and it definitely showed today.  He also put up a dominating performance today and was only out-shined by the unknown Senat.  His strength and hip movement off the line was superb and being that Manatee will return their whole DLINE teams will have to figure out a way to get through this rock solid defensive front next year.

DB

  • William Likely- CB/WR- Belle Glades Central High School- While Vernon Hargreaves was by far the most impressive skill position player in the combine today highly touted William Likely out of the “The Muck” showed up and impressed as well.  He was very aggressive in one on one situations not allowing any completed passes.  He showing great jumping and ball play ability as he was always able to out leap the WR.  He also made some spectacular plays at the WR position
  • Marcell Harris- Safety- South Lake High School-  Marcell has a big body as he looks to be about 6’2 215 but he ran well in the 40 timing in at 4.5.  While being out of position in one on one’s he still looked very good showing good range as any ball that got within his wing span was knocked down.  In the 7 on 7 session he showed up even more being an imposing figure in the secondary that was hard to throw by.
