Vernon Hargreaves honored as Guy Toph Award Winner

Vernon Hargreaves, 2013, ATH, Wharton, the 2012 All-BCP Defensive Player of the Year, has been honored with the 2012 Guy Toph Award.

This is believed to be the oldest continuous high school sports award in the country and often described as Hillsborough County’s equivalent to college football’s Heisman Trophy, the Guy Toph Award has been presented to senior football players who excel on the field and in the classroom.

Hargreaves has played multiple positions: CB, Safety, LB, RB, QB and WR. Against Chamberlain he had 12 solo tackles and 21 total; against Plant 12 tackles. On the season Vernon produced 73 solo tackles, 5 INTs, 5 caused fumbles, and five 2pt conversions. It is not so much the numbers he produced, but how he produced them. A blind man could tell he was the glue for the Wildcat defense. That is why, University of Florida verbal commit, Vernon Hargreaves is the 2012 All-BCP Defensive Player of the Year.
