This fall, we were introduced to a highly talented hoopster from East Bay high school. A sophomore point guard, highly skilled and tremendously talented. A returning starter for the Indian basketball team with a increased role and responsibility.

Jonathan Jean, East Bay 2015 PG has done nothing but continue to improve and master his craft. He has increased his scoring and minimized his turnovers. As one of the leaders of the 17-3 Indians, Jean is not content with his game at all.

Where have you improved since last season?
Jean: I have improved my shooting ability , controlling the floor, and defense.

What are your personal goals for this season?
Jean: To win districts with my team and possibly go deep inside the playoffs

Jean is a superb ball handler. He has a soft touch on his floater and can get to the lane at will.

What is the strength of your game?
Jean: My strengths of my game is attacking the rim and finishing at will

Where is East Bay struggling?
Jean: My school East Bay is struggling with size!

Currently the Indians are 17-3 with their only losses to Brandon (twice) and Robinson. Only one loss since December 12, 2012. East Bay is averaging 59 points per game without a true center. Starting QB, Chris Carpentier is the tallest player on the basketball team (6-5), but does not get a ton of minutes each game. East Bay struggles to defend the paint at times and has to play scrappy to contest on the offensive and defensive glass.

Where is East Bay strong?
Jean: East Bay is strong at speed and defense

What will it take to make a strong run in the playoffs?
Jean: It will take hard work in practice, intense defense and attention to detail.

Currently, Brandon sits at the top of District 7A-8 with a 9-1 district record and East Bay at a close number 2 at 8-2 (district record). Lennard Strawberry Crest and Bloomingdale are left on the schedule for Jean and the Indians to take down. If Jean wants to lead his team deep into the playoffs, it will start with a strong regular season finish.
