REPORT CARD

Quarterback: C
As Flowers goes, so does the offense. Today the Flower didn’t quite bloom. Flowers over shot receivers, threw high too often and was indecisive at times with his delivery. Completed just under 60% of his passes and accounted for 253 total yards. 186 of those yards through the air. On the other hand, he did throw 2 pretty Touchdown passes. One for 65 yards to Tice which gave the Bulls some breathing room after being tied at 17 with Stony Brook.

Running Back: C
Would be worse. Didn’t get much help from the front 5. Backs never showed any explosiveness or breakaway ability. Longest run of the day was 15 yards by WR Deangelo Antoine. Tice and Johnson combined for 72 yards, 29 carries and Tice with 2 TDs. Darius Tice averaged 3.6 yards per rush while D’Ernest Johnson averaged 1.2 per rush.

Offensive Line: D
Bulls offensive line struggled to move the line of scrimmage forward and Heisman Hopeful Quinton Flowers was under duress the majority of the game. Stony Brook defensive line controlled the gaps and smothered the run.

Receiver: C
Not the best day for the pass catchers. Out of sync several times with the captain Quinton Flowers. Busted plays, bad routes, dropped balls and very little yards after the catch. Tyre McCants did have a beautiful 65 yard TD pass on the Stony Brook sideline. Marquez Valdes-Scantling added some points of his own with a pretty touchdown reception in the back of the end zone. Outside of that, pretty average performance from a talented unit.

Defensive Line: A
Played absolutely outstanding. Shrunk running lanes and pushed offensive linemen back into the lap on Stony Brook QB Joe Carbone. Seawolves averaged less than 3 yards per rush.

Line Backers: A
Excellent in pass coverage. Tremendous flowing to the football and securing tackles and outstanding finding the football in traffic. Bulls played almost exclusively a nickel defense with 5 in the secondary and 2 line backers. Auggie Sanchez and Nico Sawtelle combined for 2 TFLs, 8 solo tackles and 22 total tackles. Lots of help from the play of the defensive line.

Secondary: A-
The minus comes from a 54 yard TD run which creased the secondary where CB Mazzi Wilkins never disengaged the block from the WR and S Tajee Fullwood took a bad angle to the alley and Stony Brook RB Stacy Bedell high tailed it to the end zone. Outside of that, the secondary was great. Defended the majority of Carbone’s passes and tackled well in space. The defense as a whole allowed just 17 completions and 137 yards. No touchdown through the air.

Special Teams: B-
Stony Brooks’s first touchdown came off a block punt which was recovered for a TD. To the positive…P Jonathan Hernandez rocked 6 punts for 280 yards and averaged 46.7 yards per punt. Also 6 kickoffs for 378 yards, 63 yard average and 2 touchbacks. Emilio Nadelman was 1 for 1 on Field goals (33 yards).
