Three Things About Mitchell Mustang Football

Pasco County, FL – You have heard this before, “Mitchell continues to win.” Since Andy Schmitz took over as the head coach in 2014 the Mustangs have not missed the playoffs and have won 8 or more games the last five seasons. They are well on their way to another successful season. Currently, Mitchell is 4-0 with a pretty favorable second half of the regular season. Here are some interesting notes on the Mustangs

Senior QB Ezra Brennan has started the season with a 134.6 QBR. Not that he puts up big numbers. But, he is very efficient when he throws the football. In no game this season has he thrown more than 5 incomplete passes. Versus Cypress Creek, he was. 9 for 9, 191 yards, and 3 TDs. Versus Pinellas Park, he finished the game 9 of 14 for 181 yards, 1 TD, and 2 INTs. Those two interceptions assisted in dropping his QB rating to a 92 for that game.

Mitchell has outscored their competition 180-29. As awesome as it is, it’s even more amazing that while doing so, the team has produced more than 400 all-purpose yards in each game this season. 186 kickoff return yards and 120 punt return yards for the season included in that statistic. The defense has totaled 30 tackles for loss in four games. The offensive scoring is a direct correlation between the pressure applied by the defense and the success of the special teams. Both are flipping the field and creating a positive field position for the offense.

Cole Castro is doing it again. In four games, he has four interceptions. Last season, he finished the season with 10 interceptions. Teams throw his way and pay.
