HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY PINELLAS COUNTY THE BOX

The Winless Problem

Hillsborough County

Chamberlain 0-3
Up next: Newsome 2-2
Chamberlain seems to be right on the verge of getting over the hump. They have lost a few games by a close margin and are posting some respectable numbers on both offense and defense. By the numbers, Chamberlain looks to have a distribution issue. Xavier Johnson is the threat. Problem is, he looks to be the only threat. No other players have near the production he does. If you stop him, you stop Chamberlain.

Freedom 0-4
Up next: Alonso 3-0
Real simple here, lack of offensive production. The Patriots have posted just 35 points this season. 22 of those came against a 1-2 Brandon team. The defense has been ok. On average, Freedom is allowing 27 points per game, which is not great, but not terrible these days. If the offense can score and control the clock more, the defense will not spend as much time on the field and allow as many points. Tough game vs. Alonso approaching.

Leto 0-4
Up next: Hillsborough 3-1
Leto was slammed into a district and pounded with a schedule that just looks impossible for the Falcons to fly high. Leto really has not done much. 39 points on the season, 36 of those in one game vs. Riverview and the defense has allowed 215 points already. That’s how much a team should be allowing in a ten game season. QB Michael Serra is completing less than 22% of his passes and RB Andre Simpson is only tacking on 48 yards per game on the ground. The question is, how much time does the QB have to get a good ball off and what kind of push is the line getting to open holes for Simpson?

Strawberry Crest 0-4
Up next: King 1-3
Losses to Hillsborough and Plant City may have been expected. However, being handled by Bloomingdale and Steinbrenner were shockers. The numbers are not good for The Crest. Second half break downs seem to be a problem. Strawberry Crest has been competitive in the 1st half, but overwhelmed after half time.

Middleton 0-4
Up next: Lakewood 4-0
The W/L record just makes it look real bad, but there are some bright spots for Middleton. The defense has not really been smack around. The Tigers have allowed 65 first half points this season, but cut that by 22 in the second half. From the outside looking in, either Middleton makes quality adjustments on defense at the half or the opposing offense takes their foot off the pedal. The offense is another story. Lakewood will be a difficult test.

Pinellas County

Clearwater 0-3
Up next: Dixie Hollins 1-3

Clearwater High Practice

Clearwater gave up 56 points to Tarpon Springs and 35 points Pinellas Park. Dixie Hollins allowed 34 points to Tarpon Springs and 32 points to Pinellas Park. Dixie may be on the winning end of this stick just because they are not allowing as many points to their opponents and score more points vs. their opponents.

Seminole 0-4
Up next Osceola 0-3
Battle of two teams with zero wins. Seminole is scoring, but can’t seem to find the correct recipe to stop teams from scoring on them. They are averaging 18 point per game, scoring 21, 29 and 22 games 1-3 before getting shutout by Countryside which killed their average. The 18 points are fine if you’ re allowing less than that to your opponent, which Seminole is not. Currently, the opposition is scoring 41 on the Seminole and that doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that scoring 18 and allowing 41 will not win football games.
