The Brandon Eagles are soaring in 2015

The Brandon Eagles are enjoying one of their best seasons this past decade. Their best season since 2005 was an 11-2 record in 2010. The Eagles are sitting at 5-1 heading into their massive District 6A-7 contest with Armwood this week and still control their own destiny for the postseason even following this week with games remaining with Hillsborough and Chamberlain in the district. 11990512_10153307007194024_4200544826701160787_n

We caught up quickly with the Eagles Head Coach, Mr. Dean Eychner and asked him about the resurgence of Brandon Football this season. We even asked coach if there was a special motivation behind their choice for uniforms this season–bearing a striking resemblance to a certain juggernaut that resides in Tuscaloosa. The Eagles went 1-9 in his first season, but finished 7-3 last year and as already mentioned–they’re well on their way to matching that if not besting their 2014 record. The Eagles are coming off a 29-2 win over Spoto last week.

Here now, is Head Coach Dean Eychner in a few of his own words–

BCP: What’s the feeling like at the moment surrounding this week? –Business as usual–or is it impossible NOT to think about who the opponent is?
Coach Eychner: Weekly we reiterate what we have to do to get better and focus on that as we prepare for any game; it’d be foolish not to consider the challenge before us this week however as they have the best talent annually in the county and it reflects thru their record. We will view this as an opportunity to gauge the growth of our program.

BCP: What has been the biggest difference in the squad this season as opposed to last season?
Coach Eychner: Very similar actually; we’re not very flashy and we like it that way. I believe our physical conditioning is the best of our four years here which has allowed us to stay in games and even win them when they would’ve otherwise gotten away from us.

BCP: With uniforms that are identical to Alabama’s–that I.D. comes with expectations–is the goal to emulate the Crimson Tide’s approach?
Coach Eychner: (Us and Alabama?? LOL!) Although I acknowledge being a Tide fan and have a deep appreciation for what they do, we researched some of the uniforms of previous Brandon Football teams and re-modeled ourselves after them. “Bringing Back Tradition” and “old school football” are slogans we use daily, and our uniforms reflect that approach through our attitude/effort we believe.
