The Robinson Knights (4-3,1-0) host the Jesuit Tigers (7-0,2-0) this Friday in Port Tampa at Jack Peters Field and they hope it’s a night they’ll never forget as they have a chance to take control of District 5A-10 with a win over the Tigers. The two teams have not met since 2012, when Robinson won that contest by a comfortable 31-10 margin. The Knights racked up 325 yards of offense led by QB Zain Gilmore in that game on their way to a 12-2 season under Mike Depue.

Things look a little bit different for the Knights in 2015, but the stakes for this game have not changed as a district title is likely in the balance. They’re led by QB Malik Tyson who’s completed 46-of-95 of his passes for 718 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions for his squad and Head Coach Shawn Taylor.

Robinson also has the benefit of a couple of other weapons on offense in the form of RB Anfernee Alston (111c-600-TD) and WR Iyan Mitchell (26rec-339-2). Junior wideout JJ Henderson is also starting to come on strong for the Knights this season having caught ten passes for 257 yards and four touchdowns thus far. The Knights also get strength on the defensive side of the ball with Wisconsin-committ Keldric Preston. The Badger-to-be leads the team in sacks (4) and leads the team in tackles with 49 through the first seven games of the season.

Jesuit holds a 6-4 lead in the series since 2005. The two teams met four times in 2010/11 with the Tigers taking three of four in that span. The Knights enter the contest averaging just 125 yard passing and 135 yards rushing for a total of 260 total per game–Jesuit averages nearly 200 yards on the ground alone. Robinson is looking to avoid their third consecutive 4-6 season and will have Spoto and Jefferson left on their schedule following their tilt with the Tigers in order to avoid that losing mark.
