The 5 Things You Need To Know For August 29, 2019

“Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans” – John Lennon. Thanks, John–we needed that right now. Whether it’s making plans for a football game and a hurricane breaks out, or the reverse, let’s go ahead and get on with our daily lives, shall we?

  1. CH-CH-CHAAANGES: Some schools have decided to move their contests up to this evening, so let’s get you updated on what games are being played tonight. Those are: Admiral Farragut at Frostproof, Winter Haven at Sebring, Lake Region at Santa Fe Catholic, George Jenkins at Fort Meade, Haines City at Bartow, Ridge Community at Lake Wales, Lakewood Ranch at Lemon Bay, Lake Gibson at Kathleen, Northside Christian at Carrollwood Day, and one lone game in our northern region with Dunnellon heading to West Port. We will post anything on the BCP Twitter account as it becomes available.
  2. OUT & ABOUT: Assuming that everything is full-throttle tomorrow night, we’ve got you covered with what we think should be some really good games from down south all the way to the top of the coverage area. Starting with the games located in the tri-county area of Hillsborough-Pasco-Pinellas: (1-0) Saint Stephen’s at (1-0) Cambridge Christian, (1-0) Berkeley Prep at (1-0) Calvary Christian, and (1-0) Cardinal Mooney at (1-0) Tampa Catholic are super-solid bets on the small-school side. In Hillsborough County in the big classes, we like (1-0) Steinbrenner at (1-0) Sickles, (0-1) Plant at (1-0) Gaither, and of course the big one, (1-0) Plant City at (1-0) Tampa Bay Tech are all going to be good ones. In Pasco, it’s all about (1-0) Mitchell at River Ridge (1-0), and in Pinellas County we’ve got (1-0) Clearwater at (0-1) East Lake, (1-0) Boca Ciega at (1-0) Largo, and (0-1) Pinellas Park at (1-0) Lakewood on our brains.
  3. OUTSIDE THE TRI-COUNTY: For those of you on the outside edges of the region, or for those that simply want to get in the car and see some really good football out of town, we highly recommend these games: (1-0) South Sumter at (1-0) Nature Coast Tech, (0-1) Sarasota Riverview at (0-1) Braden River, (0-1) Manatee at (1-0) Palmetto, or for a really “nice” (and we mean that–it’s actually very cordial but super-stressful) rivalry game to our south, (1-0) Fort Myers at (1-0) Charlotte.
  4. DO NOT LET THEM TELL YOU OTHERWISE: IF you don’t know much about Myron Rolle, we are simply going to tell you to look him up. He was a football player at FSU and has now secured his residency in Neurosurgery. Don’t let anyone dictate what you’re going to be in life. Be everything you were meant to be in this world! 5. YOU THINK YOU GOT TALENT? Well, it’s just Oluwalademi Ogunlana’s world, and the rest of us are just paying rent. Check out this young lady’s performance of the National Anthem before her game. She attends Elkins High School in Missouri City (aka MO-CITY) Texas. Stand up and applaud!!–but not until she’s finished playing it.
