The 5 Things You Need To Know For April 18, 2019

  1. This Ain’t a Game, Or is it? – Let’s start the Thursday edition off with an interesting study done last September by the Pew Research Center about Americans and video games. There are many things that standout: One, if you enjoy video games and aren’t yet 50 years-old, then you better get your kicks while you can. Two, for those significant others complaining about nothing-but-sports being played, look closer. Three, what the teens surveyed actually answered might interest you. Four, the disconnect with the “old folks” that are say, over the age of 75, is very easy to predict. Folks straight-up hate what they don’t know or understand. While you come for that predictability, stay for the actual percentage of 18-29 year-olds that say video games might be contributing to gun violence. There are a METRIC TON of folks who turned out just fine playing violent games, and it’s a shame that a few bad apples spoil the supply when the crop is in fact, still healthy. With a number like this however, it’s time to start paying a little more attention to what they’re saying in this instance.   2. Euro-Paying Attention, Now: From 2010-2016, just two Europeans signed to go and play college football. In 2019, there were 8, and 5 of them are signed to the Power 5 schools. We made mention, as well as shared articles about of this before regarding the growing trend of America’s *Modern* Pastime spreading across the pond.   3. Built Ram Tough: The Sarasota Riverview Rams released their schedule some time back, and we’d like to share that with y’all today if we could! New faces in their 8A-8 district. Out are their NW Hillsborough (Alonso and Steinbrenner) and north Pinellas (PHU) opponents, and enter Polk County opponents Ridge Community and Haines City, as well as a much closer Hillsborough County opponent, Lennard.   4. Soarin’ into 2019: Springstead’s 2019 Campaign has been mapped out, and we would like to share that with you. New district opponents for the Eagles outside of Pasco High this season. Out are Mitchell, Sunlake, and Land O’Lakes, and in are Lecanto, and Lake Minneola.
