The 5 Things You Need To Know For April 16th, 2019

  1. Panthers = Biggest Bulls: This isn’t some sort of new zoological research, folks. Rather, a shoutout to the 17 different schools and 30 teams in-total that participated in BCP’s Bull In The Ring this past Sunday. At the end of the day, it was one of the three teams that Plant brought to Larry Sanders Park coming home victorious, the Black team coming in with 1,087 points. Their next closest challenger (Calvary Christian) finishing some 90 points behind them. Rounding out the T-10 were: 3) Pinellas Park-990, 4) East Lake #2-973, 5) Clearwater Red-968, 6) East Lake #1-958, 7) Sunlake-947, 8) Lennard-918, 9) Wiregrass Ranch Maroon-911, 10) Auburndale-906
  2. Spring (Season) is HERE! – Well almost, folks. Less than a week away on Monday the 22nd, teams may hit the fields in a non-contact fashion with contact coming at the end of the week. Don’t forget that that at the end of this month on the 28th and 29th (Sunday/Monday) the Board of Directors will be meeting in Gainesville. 3. Flag Football Update: As we head into week 7, and with district tournaments beginning next Monday, the rankings are still chocked full of area teams headed into the final week of the regular season. In all classes, it’s the Lady Knights of Robinson and their unblemished 10-0 record at #1, with the Lady Sharks of Riverview at #2. Alonso is at #5, Bloomingdale at #13, and Osceola at #21. There were a total of 11 teams ranked between the 2 classes. In Class 1A, Robinson is the unanimous #1, with Osceola at #11, Brandon at #14, Tarpon Springs at #17, Crystal River at #21, and Southeast at #25. In Class 2A, it’s Riverview at the top spot, with Alonso at #3, Bloomingdale at #9, Steinbrenner at #13, and Newsome at #23. Well done, ladies!
  4. Start Making Plans for Atlanta: Nope. We are not talking about the SEC Championship or the Chick Fil-A Kickoff Classic. We are actually talking about something a little cooler than that. Yes, cooler, and way more awesome. Taking place north of the metro area in Milton at the end of August will be the Freedom Bowl. Six games, and with five teams from Florida and four of them from Central Florida spanning the entire I-4 Corridor. Starting on Thursday the 29th of August at 7:30pm, you get the hosts Milton taking on rivals Alpharetta. Then on Friday, the first of the Floridian teams to get underway will be Winter Park taking on Pickerington Central from Ohio at 5:00pm. Following up that game is Cocoa vs. Hoover, a match-up that doesn’t need much more elaboration kicking off at 8:30pm. ON SATURDAY, have breakfast with the Mainland Bucs at 10:30am as they face Bishop Sycamore from Columbus, Ohio, as they get you ready for Clearwater Central Catholic facing off aginast Brentwood Academy from the Nashville Area. Brentwood are on a 4-straight AAA-D2 championship run at the moment, and are also known most recently as the alma mater to Jalen Ramsey before FSU and the Jaguars. The nightcap will take place between HMS-Wright from the Mobile, Alabama area taking on Western from Davie at 7:00pm. Seriously, there might not be a better weekend of football on the schedule at this time.
