The Talent Pool series maintained by NationalHSFootball.com dates back to the Class of 2009 and was originally used as a per-participant ratio study (view Class of 2015 results) to show were it is more efficient to recruit talented players. This totaling of numbers shifts the focus to the raw amount of players signed.
Since 2011 Texas has the greatest number of FBS signees. 1900 is the total now after a monster class in 2015. Florida sits at #2 with 1741 signees. California, Georgia and Ohio complete the top 5. Florida’s lowest signing class was surprisingly not 2011, But 2012. That year the state of Florida signed 325 athletes and Texas signed 371. From 2011 – 2014 the largest spread of Texas and Florida signees was 46 in 2012 in favor of Texas. That number was surpassed this year as Texas had 70 more FBS signees than Florida.
Though the state of California is large is size, the number of FBS signees was drastically lower than Florida and Texas. 289 in 2015, 1272 total in the last 5 years. According to the NationalHSfootball.com the state has not signed over 300 prospects in the last 5 years like Texas and Florida. Last 5 year Average: Texas 380, Florida 348, California 1254, Georgia 191, Ohio 147.
