HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY RECRUITING THE BOX

Terrier role player stepping up BIG

Headed into a big district game vs #1 ranked Armwood, the #6 ranked Hillsborough Terriers have looked solid since the lone loss to Plant in early September. The headliners for the Terriers, Moore, Sherit and Brown, have led the Terriers to a successful season thus far, but it’s the play of some of the role players that have the Terriers flying higher than expected and playing for a District Championship this Thursday.

Armaud Herndon, Hillsborough, CB, 2012

Armaud Herndon is scratching his way to surface of some of the big time defensive playmakers in the Hillsborough County. The 5-9/165lbs senior corner back has bounced back from average start of the season and come on strong since. Herndon leads the Terriers with 4 interceptions on the season, 25 total tackles, 5 pass defended and 1 fumble recovery.

Not listed as a preseason top player or even one to watch, Herndon has forced his way into the conversation. Hillsborough defensive coordinator, Dean Eychner says “He is a great young man and a pleasure to coach. Works hard at practice and in the school building. His hard work is showing”.

For the Terriers success to continue, the stars must continue to shine and the role players must continue to play at a high level. Herndon and the Big Red secondary will be tested this week as they travel to Seffner to battle Alvin Bailey and the Hawks.
