St. Petersburg ATH signs Letter of Intent

David Jones committed to Richmond on Jan. 22 and signed his name on the dotted line today. He did so in front of a huge fan base which included lots of family, many friends and even more teammates.

“It’s kind of nerve racking at first,” Jones said of all eyes being on him. “But at the same time its fun that all my family and friends get to see me go off to college.”

Jones is a multi-talented athlete who says coaches have told him he will likely play defensive back for the Spiders.

“Hopefully I get to play my freshman year, but if not then I’ll come back my sophomore year faster and stronger,” he explained. “It’s an education first school so all the other players get all of their work done, just like me.”

He likely won’t play basketball, but Jones says he will run track and will close out his senior year at St. Petersburg with a goal of winning a track state championship and continue to give his all to the St. Pete basketball program.
