Robinson High (Tampa, FL) –
Left Plant and went down the street to Roooooobinson. Caught Robinson in team mode. The Knights are young and there are plenty of holes to fill. The most glaring was the quarterback. Just like so many schools, trying to find a guy to replace “The Guy”, is not as easy as it seems. The 2 kids who are competing at the position have plenty to learn, but are athletic to say the least. And they throw a pretty good ball. 40-45 kids were at practice today. Coach DePue and staff were in the kids ears, trying to keep them focused towards the end of a long practice. A play maker will have to emerge. The Creech (LB/DL) kid is a good looking player and has a good motor. The Knights havesome athletes in the secondary that may have to play both ways in order to add depth and athleticism on the perimeter of the offense. Leadership, leadership, leadership is the thing that needs to be replaced the fastest. It’s evident that they lost so many great players and players who therest of the team followed. The attitude is there though. The best part of practice was the conditioning. The offensive coordinator ran the show and killed the kids and I loved it. The kids responded. No attitudes, no sucking teeth, just ran and got it done! It showed character and toughness. Its a long spring, but the Knights are on the right track.
