Pugh’s View: It’s been a pretty successful run for the Nation of Sparta by way of Progress Village, but now they must deal with the departure of their most successful nucleus in school history. Gone are Addison, Taylor, and Smith. Also gone (for the time being) is the traditional ground and pound offense the Spartans are known for in exchange for a Spread/Power-I/Pistol which may in fact make great use out of the raw talent that graces the sidelines. Huge district, but if there’s one thing you must know about Sparty it’s that they fear no one and THAT is enough along with their talent to keep them competitive week-in and week-out.

Must Have: Similar to the Robinson peeps, the Spartans need a healthy dose of short-term memory loss and move forward with the new set of warriors on the squad. Last year is last year. If their new offense is to have ANY success, it’s going to rely on the OL and their ability to execute the sometime complex blocking schemes.

Uh-Oh: This may sound awfully strange, but the biggest problem Spoto will face this offseason and the Fall will be the sticker shock created by the new scheme and the patience it will require to install. They don’t have a shortage of athletes, and they don’t have a shortage of heart, so there’s no excuses beyond this in my opinion.
