Pugh’s View: People were salivating over the prospects of a Pinellas County team making a deep run into the playoffs. And boy was I one of them. Everybody had them pegged after their demolition of Countryside in the Spring and then their perfect run through the regular season. They had all the weapons, but their vaunted Wing-T simply stalled against a Venice team that was allowed to hang around. I like the Green Devils to make a serious run at the #1 or #2 spot again if they can get past Pinellas Park on October 6th.
Must Have: Coach Fab must be able to rely on his Senior QB David Jones to be a leader after the loss of so many valuable veterans on both sides of the ball.
Uh-Oh: 2, 841 yards and 40 TD’s. That’s the combined output of the RB’s that graduated. If the OL doesn’t clear holes, it could pose a problem and back the Devils into a one-dimensional corner.
