Riverview Head Coach, Bruce Gifford, talks to his team post practice

Riverview
Head Coach: Bruce Gifford
2010 Record: 0-10

2011 District: Class 7A – 8
Brandon
Durant
East Bay
Newsome
Plant City
Riverview

Short Capsule: 10 wins in 29 games in the last 3 seasons means, the machine needs an upgrade. The upgrade may come this year! The Sharks are much more skilled than years past. Coach Gifford is very excited about his new crew and feels that he has upgraded in many positions that will bring about a change in statistic in 2011. In a district that is top heavy with Plant City, Brandon and Newsome being the favorites, Riverview will have the opportunity to fly under the radar and sneak up on some teams. Ladarian Stevenson, Steven Maines and Daryl Gibson will share carriers for the Shark offense as the running game will be the foundation. The defense will be anchored by linebacker, Sean Shapiro who is a big body player with plenty of punch. Besides the players, it’s about a mindset for the Sharks. If the blue and black have a mindset that they are the “puncher” and not “punchie”, they will have a better shot at having success in 2011.

“Coach Speak:” “We have a great group of upcoming seniors that are hard at work to make us a much better team going in to spring.” ~ Bruce Gifford

“Must Have”:
• 0-10 last season = WIN, WIN and WIN some more 2011
• Solidify QB situation
• Excel on special teams

“Uh-oh”: Coach Gifford says he needs consistency on his coaching staff. He can not afford to loose another offensive coordinator.
